KAARAL USA HAIR SHOW!

November 7th was KAARAL’s International Artistic team’s hair show in North Haven, CT called, “Inspiration USA.” The show was a way for future and current hair/beauty professionals to learn about the companies products, while also seeing how some of the best professionals style hair and where they get their inspiration from.

KAARAL is an Italian Color line that is now distributed across the US, as well as many other countries around the world. Myself and five other girls had the pleasure of being hair models for two extremely talented hair dressers that work for the USA team, Paul Smith and Jessica Bakis.

The show was really creative and interesting, because it was separated into three parts to show how three era’s of style can all be incorporated into fashion and beauty today, and how stylists, hair professionals, and beauty guru’s can take the techniques used in these Era’s to their clients. Here’s a little about the three era’s that inspired the show:

Part 1: Old Hollywood Glamour

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

– Audrey Hepburn

Classic. Timeless. Glamorous. Inspirations for this era of fashion comes from Hollywood icons Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. So many Celebrities still use this simple and elegant look for their fashion inspo in modern day fashion.

Part 2: 70’s Disco

“Would ya just watch the hair. Ya know, I work on my hair a long time and you hit it. He hits my hair.”

– Tony Manero, Saturday Night Fever

The 1970’s style separated itself from the traditional fashion standards of the 50’s and 60’s. This was an era where creativity, expression and exotic tastes really broke ground. Colorful patterns, bell bottoms, jumpsuits, hot pants, sequins and glitter became staple items for everyday style. The late 70’s also introduced the world to punk fashion with colored mohawks, metal studs, leather jackets and ripped jeans.

Part 3: Modern

“It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.”

-Alexander McQueen

Today, fashion and style is a free-for-all of self expression and colorful tastes. There is really no clear-cut definition of fashion anymore because there are so many different trends happening, even the fashion icons of the modern era are experimenting with them all at once.

The hair show didn’t focus on how each era evolved into the next, but how Old Hollywood and Disco fashion is still seen in Modern Styles today. All three are very important to how beauty practitioners and hair stylists create looks for their clients on a daily basis.

Some photos of the prep before the show:

I was a model for the Old Hollywood section. My hair was bleached out twice, with an added toner, using all KAARAL Color line products to get my hair as light as possible, without damaging it. Marilyn Monroe was the inspiration for the look, and my hair set with rollers for the first half, then a classic updo for the finale.

I think the theme for the show was really interesting because every day we see how styles and trends come back with a modern spin, and each evolution of hair has changed or stayed the same.

It was an awesome experience that I recommend to anyone with the opportunity. I got to get my hair done, dress up in fun outfits, and sit on stage while a professional hair dresser created different styles with my hair.
